The announcement by BoardTronics to offer an alternative to the OEM Narrow Band radio upgrade has created a significant amount of early inquiries. BoardTronics currently serves hundreds of golf course clients using the OSMAC® irrigation control system in the US.

The Barracuda™ upgrade (patent pending) was designed as a result of the FCC rule mandating users of Wide Band radio equipment to upgrade to Narrow Band compliant equipment by January 1, 2013. BoardTronics will commence upgrade scheduling in January 2012. This scheduling will allow BoardTronics to complete all upgrades to existing systems ahead of the January 2013 deadline.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

• Whether a golf course has 10 RDR field controllers or 50 RDR field controllers, the Barracuda™ Narrow Band upgrade is the same price! Golf courses will not be required to purchase new RDR Field Decoder Hardware or a new Narrow Band Base Station.

• ONE MORE TIME – no new field or base station hardware, as well as, no new software, antennas, computers or communications protocol will be necessary. The Barracuda™ upgrade solution was specifically designed to eliminate what BoardTronics believes to be expenses with no direct benefit.

• The upgrade functions without limitation with all OEM central irrigation software versions.

• No in-field work is required. The entire upgrade process is designed to be completed in one business day within the BoardTronics National Service Center located in Auburn, CA.

• The Barracuda™ upgrade is designed to be discreet and unobtrusive. Customers will not incur the additional expenses related to employee training, retooling, re-programming or installation costs. Simply – plug in and water as usual!

• No loss in OEM features, including voice prompts, two-way voice communications, and the ability to operate from a touch-tone hand-held radio.

• Golf courses will be operating on the SAME RADIO FREQUENCY as their current FCC license allows following the upgrade. For those golf courses without proper FCC licensing, BoardTronics will assist with FCC licensing procedures at no additional charge.

• The upgrade comes with a one year limited warranty, the same limited warranty that has successfully covered all of BoardTronics’ reconditioning processes for over fifteen years.

• BoardTronics’ reputation across the US golf marketplace for delivering quality products and service solutions, as promised, is absolute and impeccable.
