E-Series OSMAC: Obtaining a Radio Frequency from a RIU

LESSON SUMMARY: This lesson is designed to assist the user in obtaining their frequency information from their RIU. Frequency information is needed for Receiver/Decoder Module programming and programming for Handheld Irrigation Radios.

Special Tools Needed: None

CAUTION: THIS LESSON MAY INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS TO TEST HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES (120V-240V) THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN BE CONTRACTED TO PERFORM SUCH TESTS.

🛑 STOP: ALWAYS TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE SATELLITE BEFORE REMOVING ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS.

*Before you begin, please make sure that you do not have any irrigation running on your golf course and do not have any scheduled irrigation starts within the next five minutes.

Push any one of the four arrow buttons on the RIU to wake up the unit

The RIU will come up with menu options, such as “Send Page,” “Configuration,” “Test Page Mode,” etc.

Scroll to “Configuration” and press the center navigation button (ENTER)

The RIU will now ask for a password, which is 7531. Use the arrows to enter the correct numbers and confirm the password with the ENTER button

The new menu will display “Radio A,” but sometimes it will display “Radio B,” “Alarm Page 1,” etc.

Scroll to “Radio A” and press ENTER

It will now display “Mode,” “TX Frequency,” “RX Frequency,” “TX CTCSS,” and “RX CTCSS”

For Receiver/Decoder Module Frequency:

Arrow down to “TX Frequency” and press ENTER

Record the frequency

Use the ENTER button to confirm the frequency and back out of this menu option

Arrow down to “RX Frequency” and press ENTER

Record the frequency

Use the ENTER button to confirm the frequency and back out of this menu option

If this was all the information you need, you can wait about 10-15 seconds and the RIU should time out to the Main Menu and you are done.

For Handheld Irrigation Radios:

You will need to check TX Frequency,  RX Frequency, TX CTCSS, and RX CTCSS

After recording the information from each section, press ENTER to save/confirm the information and to back out to the previous menu.
