Communication problems between Timing Mechanism & MAXI central computer

  • Ensure the Timing Mechanism is reading the 2-Wire Comm Board. On the Timing Mechanism, select "System Information". Press it until you see the IFB and MLB version numbers. If version number for the IFB reads "00", the 2-Wire Comm Board should be repaired or replaced with a new one.
  • If there is an IFB number, swap the 2-Wire Comm Board with a known operational unit to see if the problem persists.
  • Verify proper power is being supplied to the Power Interconnect Board. To do this, check for correct AC voltage at connector on the Power Interconnect Board. MAXI communication uses a 28V AC signal. Use an AC voltmeter to test. The voltages should be 8.5V across the two blue wires, and 26.5V between the two orange wires.
  • If no AC volts are present, the problem may be the surge pipe or field wiring.
  • Double-check your satellite address.
  • If the address is correct, the fault is with the Timing Mechanism, 2-Wire Comm Board, or the 2-Wire Comm Board Cable. Exchange them one at a time with known working units until the faulty unit is located.
