ISSUE:

Timing Mechanism displaying "Incompatible OSM" error

Problem:

If your Timing Mechanism is equipped with software above version 3.0, the software may search for "OSM chips" in all output boards in the satellite (either Output Station Modules "OSMs" or Relay Output Modules ROM8s). These OSM Chips do not provide any additional functionality; they are simply verification tools that may throw "Incompatible OSM" errors when there is an absence of an OSM chip on any given output board. In other words, this error may indicate that you are running software above version 3.0 on your Timing Mechanism AND there is at least one output board in your satellite that does not have an OSM chip.

Solution:

As stated, OSM chips do not provide any additional functionality, they just throw errors. So a temporary solution is to go to the satellite and press "Cancel" on the Timing Mechanism. This returns everything to normal conditions. However, you will have to do this every time the Timing Mechanism loses and regains power.

One long term solution is to downgrade your software to version 3.0 or below, meaning you will never experience this error again (since software 3.0 or below does not check for OSM Chips). Please note that downgrading the software will not diminish basic functionality of the satellite. If you do not downgrade to version 3.0 (or below) software, the other long term solution is to ensure all the output boards in the satellite are functioning OSMs WITH OSM chips. SuperParts™ Output Station Modules all come equipped with these chips.
