[SBM ONLY] HOW TO:

Configure address switches

When setting your address switches, it is important to note which version of the 2-Wire Comm Board you are using. If you have a total of six switches, you are running an older style. If you have eight, you are running a newer style.

Below is a brief guide on how to properly set your address switches.

Address numbers range from 1-32. You can set your address switches based on your address number using the graphic below. When a switch is in the ON position, it represents a numeric value. Switch 1 = 1, Switch 2 = 2, Switch 3 = 4, Switch 4 = 8, and Switch 5 = 16. When a switch is in the OFF position, it represents 0. You must set your address switches in such a way that the sum of the numeric values of all the ON switches equals your address number. For instance, if your address number is 13, you would set 1, 4, and 8 to the ON position (1+4+8=13).

IMPORTANT: The orientation of the switches' "ON" positions are different on the old and new SBM styles. In the older style, the "ON" position is up, while in the newer style, the "ON" position is down. OFF represents 0 while ON represents a numeric value which is shown in the figure below. For instance, if your address number is 13, you would set 1, 4, and 8 to the ON position (1+4+8=13).

NOTE: On the newer style 2-Wire Comm Boards, the left three dip switches are not used. Be sure that they are in the OFF position or the board will fail to work properly.
