NETWORK 8000 HOW-TO: installing/removing a faceplate

To power down a Network 8000 cabinet, remove one of the two main fuses located towards the bottom inside of the cabinet.

Removal Instructions

  • Turn off power to the satellite cabinet. This can be done by removing the two fuses located at the bottom of the cabinet.
  • Remove the four faceplate corner mounting screws.
  • Carefully lift the faceplate out of its mounting hole, taking caution not to allow any of the attached ribbon cables to be tightly pulled.
  • Gently unplug the four connected ribbon cables from the faceplate.[Picture]

Installation Instructions

  • If the faceplate is going to be used with a central computer, be sure to set the address switches on the faceplate to the correct address. More information on setting your address switches can be found HERE.
  • Verify that the power to the satellite cabinet is turned off (the two fuses located at the bottom of the cabinet are removed).
  • Inspect the connectors on the four ribbon cables inside the top section of the satellite cabinet for any potential problems: broken/loose wires, corrosion, debris in contact holes, etc. Clean or replace any cables as needed.
  • Carefully plug the four ribbon cables inside the top section of the satellite cabinet into the appropriate connectors on the faceplate. [Picture]
  • Place the faceplate into the proper mounting position in the cabinet.
  • Be sure to check for possible pinching of the small ribbon cable leading to the membrane keypad of the faceplate, and carefully poke the cable down below the faceplate mounting surface if necessary.
  • Install and tighten down the four faceplate corner screws.
  • Turn power on to the satellite cabinet by installing the two fuses located at the bottom of the cabinet.
  • If desired, verify the proper address settings by navigating with the arrow buttons to the "CONFIG", "REVIEW" menu and then select "SAT. ADDR." to display the address settings in the right-hand display window. [Picture]
