NETWORK 8000 HOW-TO: reinitializing a faceplate

To power down a Network 8000 cabinet, remove one of the two main fuses located towards the bottom inside of the cabinet.

Many problems with a Network 8000 satellite can be solved by a simple re-initialization of the faceplate. This process clears all the memory and operating parameters of the faceplate and often a system glitch will get flushed out of the system as well.

Re-initialization Instructions

    • Turn off power to the satellite cabinet by removing one of the two fuses located at the bottom of the cabinet.
    • Press and hold the Down-Arrow button on the faceplate.
    • With the down-arrow pressed, turn power back on to the satellite cabinet by installing the fuse located at the bottom of the cabinet
    • Continue holding the Down-Arrow button on the faceplate until you hear 2 short beeps followed by a single long beep, along with the message in the display windows "ALL PARAMETERS ARE INITIALIZED"
    • Note: If the faceplate does not give the proper beeps nor the initialization message in the display windows within 10 seconds of power-on, then release the Down-Arrow button and begin troubleshooting the display. Display troubleshooting information can be found HERE.
    • Release the Down-Arrow button.
    • The faceplate should continue to show messages on the display windows, including RAM size (usually 32K), EPROM software version and date information, AC power frequency (50 or 60 Hz as appropriate), and product code information, followed by the default time and calendar screens. If the faceplate does not complete this sequence properly, it has an internal failure and should be sent in for reconditioning. Create a UPS Shipping Label HERE.
    • If the satellite cabinet is equipped with a Valve Voltage Monitor PCB then run a "TRI. AMPS" procedure.
      • Navigate with the arrow buttons to the"CONFIG", "SET" menu and select "TRI. AMPS".
      • Allow the faceplate to step through all 32 stations and go back to the default display when complete.
    • Set the Time, Day, Calendar, and reprogram the faceplate watering schedules as necessary.
